Today my sister woke up with a sore throat. I was at the computer and my dad goes, "Rachael, you need to go to Walmart and get Melanie some blueberry children's Advil." I was like, ".. Why?" He said "because she needs some." I said, "Well I mean, it isn't my job to go get her medicine, I'm not her parent." Both my parents looked at me astoundedly and said, "Do you want a house to sleep in? If you do, you'll go get her some." I said, "'I'll be talking to Gram at 10," and it was 9:30, and he goes, "You can call Gram back later, Melanie is your top priority." Um, what the hell, man? MY sister is not my top priority in any case. I'll do whatever I can to help her out and protect her and stuff, but in no circumstance is she my top priority. I'm not going out of my way and throwing aside my plans to go get her some Advil when my mom is perfectly able to go get her some. If I wasn't already talking to my grandma, which I know sounds like a cop-out but we talk every Sunday at 10 am and he knows this, I would go get her some in a heartbeat, if he had asked in a better way. Not "Melanie is your top priority so you WILL go get her some blueberry Advil." Maybe "Rachael, could you please go get Melanie some blueberry Advil? She is quite sick and I wish her to get better" would have been a little more tactful, you bumbling oaf. And then after I had gone into the kitchen to get ready to go get her the damn Advil, he follows me and gives me a hug and says, "I'm sorry if I was being harsh, I just want her to feel better." Oh, do you? Really? My mom came into the kitchen and he goes, "Well, you know, Mom can just go get the Advil and a thermometer," and she goes, "Yeah, I can go get it." Well I can't say that's not what I wanted, but it was a little late, you know? I've thought for a really long time that he prefers Melanie over me, and that was completely confirmed when he goes, "Melanie is your top priority." That was the biggest proof I've seen yet. So yeah I got out of getting the Advil, but I'm still pretty pissed.
I'm so glad he's going shopping with my uncle today. I couldn't stand him in the house another minute.
